HERE WE GO AGAIN
Hello God. It’s me again. The one who always falls
I’d like to thank you once again for answering my call
I cannot help but think again “You must be tired of me
for falling on my face then crawling back on bended knee"
I marvel at your tolerance for allowing all my rot
Heaven as an audience must wince an awful lot
It’s surely no coincidence I cannot keep my feet
And when I hit the consequence, the cycles on repeat
But here I stand in grace again as if I never fell
Standing so amazed again as if freed from a spell
I know I’ve found my place again. I’m back on solid ground
So Lord, I plead my case before the trouble comes back ‘round
I’d love a bit more confidence to fill my drinking cup
And Lord, afford me competence to keep me standing up
I don’t need any evidence to know your Word is true
But Holy Spirit influence to help my mind renew
Lord teach me how to pray again, to seek your holy face
And give me Heaven’s eyes again to run a Godly race
To focus on the prize again when life is all but fine
To fix my eyes on Jesus standing at the finish line
Your loving perseverance Lord has gotten me this far
Despite my interference and forgetting who you are
My total inconsistence always lands me back in strife
But you in your benevolence still grant eternal life
I don’t want to be a reed again that wavers in the breeze
Or thrown out of the boat again in temperamental seas
Forgetting who I am again while running down the clock
Lord, grab a hold of both my feet and plant them on your rock
Planted in your providence and strengthened by your hand
Overcoming every turbulence, I’ll make a righteous stand
As I press towards your radiance with you in front, not me
Help me to outdistance Lord, the man I used to be
